So, we finally got to the bottom of why Grif had a time out on his second day of kindergarten. At least this is what the teacher
claims happened. You know how these kindergarten teachers are, they just take the job so they can push little kids around. We are considering a lawsuit against the teacher, the school, the State of NY, and anyone else we can think of. How dare they accuse our child of talking while a grown up was talking. Ha-ha. I'm sure there have been people on Jerry Springer who have sued. Back when I was in Catholic school, I remember talking during church to my best friend Frankie and we got caught by Sister Rita Joseph. Aside from getting the 'stink eye' from her, after church and lunch she put scotch tape on our mouths. I still remember having PBJ and potato chips too. The chips were salty and made my lips so the tape would not stick. I thought she was going to kill me. Ah, the good old days....

When I was a TA, I had to ask a student of mine to bring a letter of explanation why he would miss class.
Little did I know that he was missing class to go to JAIL!! I was very surprised by the letter from the
district magistrate (or some other state official).
Why do people drink and drive ANYWAY!

Poor Griffin. Time out on the second day?
Griffin might spend the rest of the year in time out if Miss Blurry Name finds out her note is on the internet! Ha! Good for you, Phil.

If she finds out, I may get a time out too.

It could be worse. A "time out" for talking in class? I never would've gotten a time in. I posted my 1st grade story today so you can see what you have to look forward to...

OMG! I totally remember the scotch tape over the mouth. Geez Phil, thanks for bringing up such comforting child hood memories.
And Griffin: Fight the man! Fight the man!
(Sorry Phil.) Maybe you'll get a spanking from Miss Blurry Note?

I figured it was a verbal infraction.

My son's school assigns a color to the students everyday. Green means good, yellow means a little troublesome. I haven't seen a red yet, but my son has a mental inventory of every classmate who has ever received one and how many times it happened.
I can't decide what's wrong with this. Should we be making examples of particular students in front of their classmates? Or simply duct taping them all to their chairs? It's really a tough choice. Toss a coin I say.

Yesterday Grif confessed that he had gotten another time out for not playing somthing to do with applesauce(?) He also keeps track or everyone's T.O.'s and Johnny had 3 in one day! I don't think anything is a code orange yet but they do seem to run a tight ship in there.
I've always preferred Velcro myself, they can stick you to the ceiling with that stuff.

yeah, if I had a 6 year old in 1st grade with a meany-bully for a teacher, I don't know what I would do!
especially if she asked him to pull a stip for talking and it would be a miracle if this shy kid DID talk in school! or if she red-inked his handwriting EVERY night and scribbled "practice" all over his papers while his twin brother (who wrote worse) received stars from the nice teacher . . .
ehem.

i have sent home many a note such as the lovely Ms. Ggrafdajklf did. she's keeping you in the loop and be happy because next year he'll have to write it himself or maybe he'll have to call you right from the classroom. that's my fave.
