Let It Be (Please)

I was going to write about this anyway today, but seeing a post from my friend Paula's Blog got me all fired up. I was looking up the lyrics for the Beatles song Let It Be yesterday (no, not Yesterday, Let it Be) and saw some...opinions (?) from this reverend at this church (??). I was shocked. I wrote him an email asking where I can burn my Beatles albums but haven't heard from him yet....
maybe he's getting his haircut.

  • I can't figure out what his deal is with King James Bibles, but other than that, his verses are legit. Even the hair ones, though I think he's using them out of context.

  • I just find it strange that God would care about someone's hair. Or that the Beatles are evil and so is music. I would think it would be better to try to live a good life and not harm people. Sort of follow the Golden Rule (do unto others...) It just seems too many people want to kill others because they don't believe in the 'right' God. I think they miss the point. I guess the irony is that no one knows for sure so I guess anything goes...

  • I totally agree with you Phil, but I guess that’s not such a big surprise :) People are hiding behind their big book of believes to justify their actions. And music is evil? Last time I checked they made music in churches too, in some churches they even use modern music instead of the hymns. I wonder what’s next; maybe there is some religious group that says that we can’t eat bananas because God intended them for monkeys only. Well, I guess it’s time to eat a banana :)

On the other matter: I loved your comment on Paula’s blog. In my opinion people love people. People can fall in love with either man or woman. Wouldn’t the world be a much nicer place if one half of the population just loved the other half? But I guess that will never happen.
