Another Pot Gone to Pot
Take my wife's cooking, PLEASE!!! I did a post a few months ago about my wife's cooking. I use this term loosely. I called her today from work and having the keen sense a man gets from being married to someone for 16+ years, I knew she either smashed the car, or burned the hell out of something. She tells me that she was trying to steam veggies. Now, there are only two tings you need in order to steam veggies. One of them are veggies, the other is water. Oh, I forgot, you need to know how to boil water. So needless to say, she forgot to put water in the pot. Now Dana cooks at one temperature. FULL BLAST. There is no simmer, no moderate heat, only FULL BLAST. Needless to say, after some amount of minutes, she noticed that the house stinks of burning vegetable matter. She was only in the next room so I don't quite understand how the pot got so melted but here it is. The other photo is from her famous apple sauce recipe.

I wish I was reading someone else's blog sometimes

Oh Phil, you need to buy your wife a new set of pans. The current set are clearly not up to it. How can you expect her to manage with a pan that is prepared to melt?

Kat, These are Farberware. The one she burned was her favorite hammer too.

Well Phil, you have to admit she has a gift, a gift to ruin and melt pots and pans. I didn’t even know that it was possible to do that :)

guilty as per all the exhibits. an iron-rich diet is suppose to be good for u. dunno about a steel-rich diet though. look at it this way, my best friend can make water taste burnt so i think Dana is one up on her :)

Wow, I didn't know you could melt steel on a stove top. What is that about a 1000F?

I looked in the splatter pan under the heating element today and I saw big liquid steel drips just like the bad guy in Terminator 2. Like Yoda said, I didn't know you could melt steel on a stove top either. The veggies, I'm sad to say, were vaporized.

Omigod! I have never seen such a thing! Burning veggies to the point of melting steel. Wow!
Actually, you do have a fire extinguisher in the house right? I'm afraid for you my friend! LOL

I Googled it, You won't believe this. Steel melts at 2700 degrees Farenheit. Either that pot is a mixed metal or you have a really good stove, or your wife is magical. Seriously, how did this happen? Wow.

OMG ROFL! That is so dang funny on so many levels! I guess saying she over seasoned it is going a bit under the radar wouldn't you say!
Yes I agree with everyone...she needs new pans! She needs ones that have either Teflon so she won't burn things, or Stainless ones with mirrored finish inside for the same purpose. I have ones with a copper core inside the bottom stainless to distribute the heat evenly. Quick...go get her some for Christmas! BUT Make sure they have a warranty....OH and you have a Fantastic excuse when you return them! LOL
Thanks for the laugh I have had one of the worst days of my life and needed a giggle!
Cheers!

We actually had a good laugh about it tonight. I said a watched pot may never boil, but neither will a pot with no water in it
