Can't Wait, But I Must :-(

I just bought tickets this week for the Eric Clapton concert on Sept 30th. He's is one of my favorite, if not my favorite guitarists. Often in teh past, I've put off seeing some concerts because I always firgured I catch them the next ime around. I must have passed up Stevie Ray Vaughn half a dozen times. I figured that Clapton is getting on in years and who knows how many tours he'll do, plus, I'm on somewhat thin ice myself so WTF. Plus the concert is 2 days after my 49th birthday ;-)

The 2006 tour band will consist of:
Eric Clapton - Guitar, Vocals
Doyle Bramhall II , Derek Trucks - Guitar
Chris Stainton , Tim Carmon - Keyboards
Willie Weeks - Bass
Steve Jordan - Drums
The Kick Horns: Simon Clarke, Roddy Lorimer, Tim Sanders on Brass
Michelle John , Sharon White- Backing Vocals
The Robert Cray Band will be the support act for Europe and US / Canada. The fall tour encompasses the eastern portion of the US and Canada.

You didn't tell me you were a fellow Clapton fan.
I'm going October 9th in Philadelphia. It will be my 9th time seeing him live. Eric Clapton is #1 on my all-time list.
The band will be different without Billy Preston, who toured with him on the last two tours, and especially without Nathan East on bass, who has been there everytime I have seen him. I will miss both of them being there. But the musicians he does have are certainly no slouches.
Throw in Robert Cray, who is not exciting live, but very technically great on guitar and a fine soulful singer, and this could be legendary.
I expect a full report when you go.

It will be September before you know it!
Mr. Clapton was here on the first of June and some of me friends went.
They had a blast and are still talking about it! Guess it was a very memorable experience :)

I'm sure you'll have a great evening. A couple of years ago I opened my local paper to see that one of my all time favourites, John Mayall, was playing at my local venue (I live in a backwater in the south east of England). I couldn't believe it. It was an amazing evening. He and his musicians are so brilliant now after so many years so they were clearly enjoying themselves. His guitarist, Buddy Withington (must be a contender for having a bigger head than Smokin Steve) did one solo where he was doing 'jokes' on his guitar; insterting Beatles' riffs - the audience were falling about laughing. Now that's talent!

John Mayall is great, I'd love to see him too. I have an old vinyl album of his that I still play, The Turning Point.
I have the whole summer to get through but I'm so looking forward to this show.
