My Camera is Down and Out
Well today, we went to Woods Hole on the Cape to take a boat ride to see some of the sea creatures around Cape Cod. First off, it can take hours to get anywhere here. this is typical of most vacation destinations and we alloted extra travel time to go to Woods Hole. Needless to say, we didn't get there in time for the 2 o'clock excursion. We had to park outside of Falmouth and take the 'trolley' to town. We noticed on our trip there (and the trip back) that the prerequiste for being a trolley bus driver is that you must dislike people and be unfriendly and unhelpful. We finally got to our destination (late) and booked the 4 o'clock trip. The lady there was very helpful and loved her job. We did get to see a very cool aquarium in town while we waited. It was free and very kid oriented. We all had a blast. So we finally get ready to board the boat to take up out. The people were split up into 3 groups. One rode in the bow, one in the stern and one up top. After about 30 minutes we switched areas and performed different tasks and learned about different sea creatures. We got to ride in the bow first. I should have seen it coming but I didn't. While riding out of the harbor, several large waves came over the bow and drenched us. Not splashed us, DRENCHED US. I had my video camera out plus my digital still camera and they both got soaked. Neither of them worked. I think the video MAY be ok but so far the still camera is ont working at all. I did tell them when we were getting off what happened and it was an uncomfortable situation. I'm not looking to make a big deal out of it but I wanted them to know about it and hopefully both will be working and that will be that. They could have said before it happened that there was a chance of a wave coming over, but afterwards it was said that it happens often. If I had known, I would have waited to take pictures. Anyway, we all had a great time and the kids got to participate in experiments and taking water samples and other fun things. It was well worth it but I hope my camera is better tomorrow...

What a nightmare! Oh, well, if they don't dry out, it may be a good excuse to go shopping for a nifty new gadget?

Man, that sucks! Warranty won't even cover that. How about home insurance, it might cover it. Dang, I'd hate that...so sorry!

Dang, I think they should have been a little more informative, like "it might be a good idea to store the electronics if you are seated in the bow"
I would have been so mad.
Hope it dries out, friend.

Sorry about your camera. I'd be pissed too.
But it's not so bad, if you just don't think about it <: Yep, denial is the answer to everything (in my life).

Thansk for all of camera concern. I did tell them on the boat what happened and I am sending them all of the info and I want replacements for them. I'm sure they have insurance for it. We got home last night. The traffic was a f-ing nightmare. What should have been a 5 hour trip was over 7. I'm surprised how patient I stayed. I know it's because of my past 2 1/2 years of waiting in doctor's offices. You can't make things happen sooner than they are going to happen.
It's nice to be home...
