I didn't post this for any particular reason other than I was looking at famous quotes and famous last words and happened upon this one. I must say that I agree for the most part. I like (or at least can listen to) most all genres of music but rap is not one of them. But I suppose every generation must have some form of music that annoys others.
This does it for me (yeah, I'm an old fart)

    Rap is so annoying! And it all sounds the same to me.
    I realize others would say the same about some of the music I listen to, so..to each his own.

  • I'd have to disagree, I dont like about 80 percent of rap that's on radio. There are however alot of great poets/artist out there. I guess I feel the same way about country music like you feel about rap. Johnny Cash though is bad as hell.

    Long time, no see. You made me think a little more about what I had written. While I still do not enjoy rap music, I'm sure there is some that is thoughful and well written. I've heard people like Eminem and others who's names escape me because I never listen to it and I don't see why they're popular. I don't understand the message they are sending but I'm pretty sure they are not trying to reach 49 year old guys.

    I just found it amusing what Entwistle said about Hitler being in a rap band, then again, I have a warped sense of humor.

    I hear you with the country music too. There's an old joke that goes:
    "What do you get when you play a country record backwards?"
    The answer: "You get your wife back, your truck back, and your dog back."

    I love Jazz, Blues, Standards, Classic Rock (hate the name, it's just Rock to me) Classical. I guess it's anything I can identify with from a musical standpoint.

    Every generation seems to have their anthem. I know that bebob was looked down on as was swing music.

  • some rap is ok........ I see it as sorta cultural. lotta anger in the words...... I like the way the kid rappers make up the words as they go along. that's the creative part which I appreciate.
