Peace on Earth

"It seems whenever someone tries to say 'Peace on Earth' it is met with so much resistance."
LISA JENSEN, Denver homeowner, after being told by her 200-home subdivision's board to take down a wreath shaped like a peace symbol. Some neighbors saw it as "politically divisive" during wartime.
Of course that was my signal to make a sign in lights that said Peace along with a Peace symbol. I have a neighbor who I don't see eye to eye with politically with. We usually never discuss politics but once he brought up the flag burning issue. My feeling is that when we prohibit flag burning, we take away one of the things I feel our country stands for, Freedom of Speech. I don't approve of flag burning but I feel there should not be a constitutional amendment banning it.

I actually got into an arguement with a blogger from the north of us a few weeks ago over a freedom of speech issue. Maybe where she is they don't have freedom of speech. Maybe should be the censor for the northern hemisphere. Good grief...

  • Isn't that horrible JLee? I'm sure a Bomb Iraq wreath would have been fine with the community

  • Unbelievable!!

As a protest, I think the whole of the US should put up 'Peace' signs.

Kat - Blogger won't let me use my id. :-(

  • This is why I don't live in a subdivision. I refuse to follow rules in regards to my home. If I want to put a damn shed, I dont' want to have to stand in front of a board and plead my case.

Bitches. It reminds of the movie, "Over the Hedge"

  • Hiya Phil,
Being that I'm in the military, I bet you'd be surprised to know my views on politics and the war. My thoughts are in line with the teachings of Dr. MLK (who was anti-military).

However, the flag burning issue is a sticking point with me. I question the motives of people who do it. They claim it's because of freedom of speech, but I think it's to garner a reaction. I hate "bandwagon activists" and dont mind seeing them get arrested.

I've seen people who are true activists make a stand for a cause and it saddens my heart when they get roughed up.

Check out Ms. Jackie Smith under my links section. She is a true activist and I'm happy to support her.

Oh, and I dig your holiday lights/greeting
