Jason Shell Mask

I saw this shell on the beach the other day. I thought it looked like Jason from the Friday the 13th movies, not that I've ever seen them. I'm not a fan of the horror genre.

Time to start the letter writting...

We are home, the drive back sucked. It took over 7 hours. I will say that it was great to vacation with everyone. It had been about 9 years since I took a family vacation. I was in the middle of a job transition, then I was working as a temp so vacations were not easily had. since I was put on staff it has become possible again but for the past 3 summers I've been dealing with the cancer so that put a crimp in things. Now, while I'm still doing the chemo stuff, I decided I need a break so I took this vacation. As great as vacations are, it is always nice to get home.

PS: I wrote the letter (email) and sent it out...
we wait........

My Camera is Down and Out

Well today, we went to Woods Hole on the Cape to take a boat ride to see some of the sea creatures around Cape Cod. First off, it can take hours to get anywhere here. this is typical of most vacation destinations and we alloted extra travel time to go to Woods Hole. Needless to say, we didn't get there in time for the 2 o'clock excursion. We had to park outside of Falmouth and take the 'trolley' to town. We noticed on our trip there (and the trip back) that the prerequiste for being a trolley bus driver is that you must dislike people and be unfriendly and unhelpful. We finally got to our destination (late) and booked the 4 o'clock trip. The lady there was very helpful and loved her job. We did get to see a very cool aquarium in town while we waited. It was free and very kid oriented. We all had a blast. So we finally get ready to board the boat to take up out. The people were split up into 3 groups. One rode in the bow, one in the stern and one up top. After about 30 minutes we switched areas and performed different tasks and learned about different sea creatures. We got to ride in the bow first. I should have seen it coming but I didn't. While riding out of the harbor, several large waves came over the bow and drenched us. Not splashed us, DRENCHED US. I had my video camera out plus my digital still camera and they both got soaked. Neither of them worked. I think the video MAY be ok but so far the still camera is ont working at all. I did tell them when we were getting off what happened and it was an uncomfortable situation. I'm not looking to make a big deal out of it but I wanted them to know about it and hopefully both will be working and that will be that. They could have said before it happened that there was a chance of a wave coming over, but afterwards it was said that it happens often. If I had known, I would have waited to take pictures. Anyway, we all had a great time and the kids got to participate in experiments and taking water samples and other fun things. It was well worth it but I hope my camera is better tomorrow...

Greetings from Cape Cod MA

We just got up to Cape Cod today. The drive up was great, no traffic. Our house is so cool. I'll take more photos of it for sure. It's even got a little loft that the boys are digging. The weather is so-so today but it's supposed to get better. But you know what? I'm on vacation and I don't really care. Obviously I'm not on vacation from blogging. I have the laptop but I can only get dialup, no wireless from the house but I'm sure I can find some in town. But you know what? I really don't care about that either. I posted some photos on Flicker if anyone is interested. See the right sidebar for the images.

Rainy - Foggy

I got home yesterday from work and was planning on cutting the lawn and swimming. Mother Nature had different plans for me it seemed. We got hit with a real mother of a storm. We must have had 3 inches of rain in under an hour. We also wound up losing power for about 2 hours after the storm so I decided to take the kayak outon the lake at dusk. It was remarkable. The photos don't do it justice at all. The lake was like a sheet of glass and there was no one on it at all. When it was really getting dark, I noticed a shape in the distance so I went to investigate. As it turned out, there was a Ghost Rowboat that was floating alone. I paddled over to it and sort of pushed it back to shore by where I thought it belonged. Afterwards, I noticed that the power had come back on so I went back to the house, then took a 1/2 hour swim.
Sorry, no photos

Free to a Good Home
One Juicy Vintage Desk

I got this desk from a friend of mine a few years ago for our kids to use. They did use it for a while, but there's been more of a battle between my wife and I about keeping the desk. I want to keep it, she doesn't. The kids have outgrown it so I am ready to let it go. I don't just want to junk it and I suppose that if I put it out by the curb (figuratively speaking since we have no curbs) and someone would snatch it up, but I'd rather give it to a friend. I did ask someone already and I'll see if she wants it for her daughters. If not, I'm sure someone at work would want it. I also thought of EBay but I saw a simliar one and it's going for $35. I don't feel it's worth my time for that and I'd rather know where it's going to.
~ gee, what an exciting post

HNT

A very good friend of mine (who I happen to work with as well) turned me on to this song. I thought it would make a good post

Naked (click to listen)
Baby, ask me anything that you want
And I'll look you in the eye now
There can be no surprises
If we mean what we say
I've been around the block
And I've done some things
That I ain't so very proud of
Darlin' help me leave this cloud of
Rolling lonely behind

Naked
I'll stand naked
If you stand naked with me
I'll stand naked with you

In the morning when I look in the mirror
I look twice at what I'm seeing
If those eyes are really me then
Lord, have mercy on my soul
I'm walking forward but I'm walking alone
And I need some understanding
Here, we all need some understanding
And I want you to know

My hands are shaking as I reach for the touch
And all I want to do is hold you
And I want to lose control
You are so easy to crave
The time has come for us to lay it all down
There can be no more denying
If I can't have you I'm dying
A little more every day

Naked
(Take me out from the shadow)
I'll stand naked
(Lead me down to the waters)
If you'll stand naked with me
(Drown my soul in a sea of love)
I'll stand naked with you
(Don't leave me haunted, 'cause)
Naked
(I believe in the searching)
I'll stand naked
(And I'll find my way through the darkness)
If you'll stand naked with me
(There are doors ahead if we see clear)
I'll stand naked with you
(They're falling open)

This Prick Got Off Easy

Enron founder Ken Lay dead of heart attack:
HOUSTON (Reuters) - Enron Corp. founder Ken Lay, who was convicted in May of fraud and conspiracy for his part in the Houston-based company's collapse into bankruptcy in 2001, has died of a heart attack at his vacation home in Colorado, a Houston television station reported on Wednesday.

KHOU-TV, a CBS affiliate, said Lay suffered a massive heart attack. He was awaiting sentencing later this year and was expected to face a lengthy prison term for his convictions in the Enron collapse.

Too bad, I wish he rotted in jail for a long time
