I Know, Here I Go Again...Must See TV

"For three decades Vice President Dick Cheney conducted a secretive, behind-closed-doors campaign to give the president virtually unlimited wartime power. Finally, in the aftermath of 9/11, the Justice Department and the White House made a number of controversial legal decisions. Orchestrated by Cheney and his lawyer David Addington, the department interpreted executive power in an expansive and extraordinary way, granting President George W. Bush the power to detain, interrogate, torture, wiretap and spy -- without congressional approval or judicial review. "

This is very important for people to watch and know about. They disregard the Constitution of the United States, they feel they are above the law. It's a disgrace...

  • Hi Phil,

In regards to your last question about me playing drums much anymore, I havent sat behind a kit in almost a year. The music store I worked for closed the local location and shortly after that I sold my kit.

In regards to this post, I also am NOT a fan of the Patriot Act as it is written.

  • Hi Paul (Old Dude - I wish I was your age - Sonny:-))
I'm sorry to hear that you sold your kit. I insist you buy another one. Really Paul, I hope that at some point you buy another one and keep on playing. It's good for the soul.

On your other comment, I appreciate your feedback, it means a lot to me as a cyber pal and as someone who's walked the walk so to speak. I have the highest respect for 99% of the men and women who served. It's something I never had the balls to do. The program on Frontline is worth seeing if you haven't seen it. It is frightening in many ways. I want to believe that things are being done in for the good of us and the world but it's hard to see that given the facts.

  • There are quite a few of us vets that dont like giving our government an open ticket to "protect" us. As for me, I'll go so far as to say that I dont believe we should be in Iraq. It pisses me off that we focused on that country but never batted an eye at Saudi Arabia. The majority of the players on 9-11 were Saudi.

I cant help to believe that pappa Bush had a hard on for Sadaam and G.W. finished him off for dad. Bin Laddan (sp) has never been found and he is also a major player in 9-11.

I support my brothers and sisters who are doing what they have been asked to do, but I believe we are barkng up the wrong tree.

I digress. As for the Patriot act, there are no "checks and balances" written into it. Our government is structured on checks and balances, so why isnt this law? The american people were reeling from 9-11 when this thing passed and now we are sheepish in our knowledge of this law.
